Your idea
Evaluate the need for training courses for your staff members. What impact do you hope your organisation’s participation in the EU programme will have on students’ learning? How many teachers do you plan to involve in international mobility? Which methodologies, tools, and curriculum areas would be most beneficial for your teachers/adult staff? Why are these courses necessary for them?
To integrate Erasmus+ throughout the entire school and organisation, it is beneficial to bring decision-makers from all curriculum areas together to discuss how the programme can enhance:
- specific subjects or areas in the curriculum (e.g., interculturality, media literacy);
- interdisciplinary learning (e.g., interdisciplinary approach to environmental sustainability, STEM and Values Integrated Learning – teaching values through the STEM curriculum);
- school values, quality policy of your organisation, culture, and interpersonal skills (e.g., critical thinking, preventing prejudices and discrimination, intercultural understanding, anti-bullying, teamwork);
- learning and teaching methods for pupils, adult staff (e.g., sharing and implementing a more pupil-centered approach to learning).
This comprehensive perspective will allow your staff to identify a broad range of potential benefits for pupils and staff, regardless of their academic discipline or professional role.

Consult the Erasmus+ Programme Guide & Model Application Forms
Access the Erasmus+ Programme Guide for more details about the Staff Mobility projects. It is available in English and most European languages.
Review the model application forms to help you with the preparation.
Create your European Development Plan
A European Development Plan (EDP) is essential for applying for Staff Mobility (Key Action 1) and is advisable for any school aiming for long-term involvement in Erasmus+.
Your EDP should include:
- Your organization’s needs for developing high-quality education and internationalization (e.g., new learning and teaching methods or tools, professional development), and how the planned activities will address these needs.
- The impact you expect Erasmus+ to have on students’ learning, teachers, other staff, and your school.
- How your school will incorporate the skills and experiences gained by your staff into curricula and organizational practices.
Match your idea with the Erasmus+ opportunities
To increase your chances of obtaining funding, your project should address the priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme for your sector (school education or adult education), as well as the horizontal priorities.
You should also check your National Agency’s website for any specific national priorities for your sector.
SCHOOL EDUCATION
Activities that provide opportunities for teachers to gain skills in meeting the needs of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Given the current context of young migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, special attention will be given to projects that train teachers in areas such as educating refugee children, managing intercultural classrooms, teaching pupils in their second language, and promoting classroom tolerance and diversity.
ADULT EDUCATION
Activities that offer staff of adult education organizations opportunities to develop skills to address the needs of adult learners from disadvantaged backgrounds. Given the current context of migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, special attention will be given to projects that train staff in areas such as educating refugee adult learners, managing intercultural classrooms, teaching adult learners in their second language, and promoting classroom tolerance and diversity.
VET EDUCATION
NEW: In the new Erasmus+ Program, staff from VET institutions can apply for Staff mobility projects to send their teachers and other employees to Erasmus+ training courses.
The objective of VET mobility activities funded by Erasmus+ is to provide learning opportunities to individuals and support the internationalization and institutional development of VET providers and other organizations active in vocational education and training. VET organizations should actively promote inclusion and diversity, environmental sustainability, and digital education through their activities.
